Each semester, the Advisory Board Reception gives Chatham students and faculty the opportunity to network with board members at the reception before the meeting. “The Business & Entrepreneurship Department Advisory Board is comprised of dedicated business professionals who support the Department’s students and vision,” says Ginger Polozoff, the department’s Program Assistant. “They provide valuable insight into trends in the business world and connect our students to corporate recruiters, internships and jobs, and professional development opportunities. Our board members are eager to help Chatham students succeed!”
Dr. Jessica Caolo, Director of Career Development at Chatham, recounts, “I thought that the event was very informative. It not only provided comprehensive information about the various employers in the Pittsburgh area, but it was an excellent networking opportunity for those who attended.” Dr. Caolo, who has many opportunities to work with students at Chatham, also notes, “I think it is important for students to enhance their knowledge of the various companies and industries. It also allows them to practice networking skills in a professional environment. I strongly believe that networking is a valuable skill that they will utilize throughout their lives.”
Marketing major Omari Pierre-Louis, who also attended the event, attests, “I met some of the business women who work in Pittsburgh, who were great, and I was able to learn a little about what they do in the business world.” He also encourages other students to attend because, “it was great, and I was able to grasp some knowledge into business that could not be received in the classroom.”
Stephanie Adamczyk, Chatham’s Director of Graduate Alumni Relations and Giving attended the Spring 2016 Advisory Board Reception in March. She reflects: “The B&E Advisory Board Reception at the Gatehouse was an excellent way to get to know the Chatham faculty, staff and supporters who are making the MBA and Accounting programs run smoothly and advance their missions. This kind of networking is vital to keep the institution well-informed and the programming for our students relevant and accessible. As a Chatham MBA Alumna, I was thrilled to be a part of the process ensuring our students receive a quality education. I encourage all MBA or MAcc Alumni to be part of these receptions and meetings in the future.”
“It’s great when students come to the reception to meet these smart, polished professionals. Students can learn so much from them!” concludes Ginger Polozoff.
This networking event is one of many valuable opportunities offered by Chatham’s Business and Entrepreneurship Department for students, faculty and area professionals to connect and share insights on careers in the Pittsburgh area.
