Do you want students to track their completion in the Moodle course? You can allow them to manual check items as they complete them or you can setup criteria that will mark items as complete.
Here is how:
1. Navigate to your course
2. Click Edit Settings
3. Scroll down and enable completion tracking, Click Save and Display
4. After returning to the course you will see the Completion Tracking Settings under Course Administration
5. This will then open a screen where you can setup the various completion criteria
