Many of us are involved in the development of interprofessional education ventures at our universities. At Chatham University we developed a program based on creating learning communities, communities of practice, that are composed of students from different health profession programs in groups of 10. They meet initially as the sit at round tables in the gym as we introduce the program and provide a speaker. They then meet twice a year, in the community, for 3 hour programs that focus on one of the Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) competencies. The programs in year one are face-to-face. In year two they meet virtually on a Moodle site.
