Here in Taiwan we have learned the value of a convenience store. There are 7-Elevens and Family Marts on almost every block of every town we have visited. We have bought snacks, fruit, water, drinks, candy, meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), bug spray, sunscreen and many other items at these stores. So far they sound like a traditional American style convenience store. But we have also used the ATM’s regularly, called for taxis, collected train tickets purchased on the internet, and sent extra luggage to our Taipei hotel so we would not have to carry so much on our travels. When we check into our hotels, finding the closest Seven or Family Mart immediately puts us at ease.
