ASIANetwork Annual Conference 2015

Asia: Body and Spirit, 23rd Annual Conference of ASIANetwork, St. Louis, MO, April 10-12, 2015

Three members (Chloe Bell, Sook Yee Leung, and Charlotte Lott) from the ASIANetwork Student Faculty Fellows program research travel to Taiwan participated in the annual conference.  We heard three fascinating keynote speakers: P.J. Ivanhoe from the City University of Hong Kong spoke on “Senses and Values of Oneness”; Xiaolong Qiu, author of the Inspector Chen novels set in Shanghai, spoke on writing about a specific locale for a global audience ; and Laura Miller from University of Missouri-St. Louis introduced the audience to the beauty of Tarot cards from Japan.  Many of the sessions featured academic papers on gender issues which intersected with our interest in the advantages and disadvantages of being a female entrepreneur.  We participated in the poster session of the eight Student Faculty Fellows 2014 trips.
