  • Up to 3 works of visual art
  • Up to 10 double-spaced pages of fiction or nonfiction

Please submit all files as PDFs.

Submissions must be received by 11:59pm on May 17, 2024.

Who is the judge?

Ally Bair is a second-year student of Chatham’s Creative Writing Graduate program with a concentration in fiction. She has been published in the literary zine Black Lily and successfully passed her thesis boards. When she is not writing, she works in student housing and enjoys cuddling with her black cat, Sammy.

If you have any questions about the contest, you can reach out to Ally at allison.bair@chatham.edu

What can I win?

Cash prizes up to $100 will be awarded to the top two submissions in each genre of poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and art.

Winners and honorable mentions will have their work published online here where all the world can see it!

In Fall 2024, winners from both the Spring 24 and Fall 24 contests will be honored in a special event held at Chatham University, and work from winners and honorable mentions will be published in a special chapbook that will be available at the event.

When will I know if I won?

Winners and honorable mentions will be notified by email by May 31.

Can somebody read my work first?

Work on your submission with a mentor at a free workshop, May 4 from 10am-noon at Chatham University’s Shadyside campus. You’ll get tips from a graduate student and feedback from your peers- plus free lunch and swag! Click here for more information and to register.
