Updates on Morgan’s Homewood research

Morgan has interviewed 13 people living in Homewood so far. An overwhelming majority of respondents are in favor of some type of inclusionary zoning model to incorporate an equitable amount of affordable housing in an apartment complex. Most of the respondents view East Liberty negatively, with one factor as the perceptive displacement of long-term residents. Respondents stressed the importance of education in the revitalization process, so that people are properly informed of things going on. Respondents think developers should play a stronger role in the process of development to inform a greater number of residents on development activity.

Next steps: Morgan will finish transcribing interviews and move onto second and third level of coding, which he hopes to finish by the end of October.
