This Season’s Best Faux Fur Coats

So it’s Winter in Pittsburgh… again. If you’re at all like me, you probably find it difficult to look cute when snow, wind, and 20-something degree temperatures are part of an average day. We all have the classic black puffer jacket. While it is the most practical (and usually the warmest), it isn’t always the most fashion forward piece in the closet.

2018 has been the year of the furry jacket. Although, they really never go out of style. Some brands refer to it as a “teddy coat” and others present a more glamorous Mink-esque look. Both offer warmth and classic vibes. When I went on my hunt for the perfect jacket, I had an open mind, except when it came to whether or not the jacket was faux fur.

There are plenty of reasons why faux fur is the better choice. For one, it’s a lot cheaper, but more importantly, it takes the lives of animals into consideration. In the last few decades, numbers of designers (even luxury brands like Prada and Chanel) have embraced the anti-fur movement. By choosing to promote products made from faux fur, they are creating an environmentally aware image; the right image.
