Welcome to Our New Graduate Assistant, Gary Mills!

Gary Mills, MAcc ’19

Please join the B&E Department in welcoming our new graduate assistant, Gary Mills!

He just moved from Washington, D.C., to begin earning his Master’s in Accounting (MAcc) at Chatham this spring semester, and is excited to be in Pittsburgh. Gary earned his undergraduate degree from the University of the District of Columbia in Business Management, with a concentration in MIS. He completed the American Economic Association Summer Program at Michigan State University in 2017 and conducted research using the General Social Survey.  The GSS monitors societal change and studies the complexity of American society.  He was also awarded the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) student merit award in 2017 for distinction in accounting. He received a trip to the AICPA headquarters in Houston, TX to attend a leadership workshop for prospective Certified Public Accountants (CPA).

Gary is excited to be a part of the growing Chatham community and to further his education. He chose Chatham due to its small class size and for the individualized attention professors can provide to their students. After graduating from Chatham, he hopes to take the CPA exam so he can work at one of the major accounting firms as a CPA.

Prior to his move, Gary worked in the business community and higher education space for several years in Washington, D.C. He also has significant corporate experience in management, human resources, finance, marketing, brand management, social media management and executive sales management. He worked at Sunshine Promotions, MHA Consulting Group LLC,  and the University of the District of Columbia. Currently, Gary volunteers at the United Way Allegheny County as an advance tax preparer in their IRS VITA Tax clinic for low-income Pittsburgh residents.
